4 ounce draft sample at the brewery. Dark brown appearance , flavor and aroma are a mirror. Has a spice, earthy malt, dried leaves. Finish is earthy and spicy. Brown malty / spicy Saison

From notes, taster at the source, caramel brown with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt caramel brown bread. Taste is nice creamy bread cereal toffee and toasted nuts.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is dark brown, like cola, small off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, mild anise. Taste is roasted malt--almost like a cross between a Schwarzbier and a black IPA--dry, dark fruit. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with average texture, average-to-lively carbonation and abrupt, mildly roasty dry finish. Overall, an enjoyable and interesting beer without a clearcut category. Maybe that made a difference for me because I kept trying to compare it to a category rather than just enjoy if for itself.

Taster at the source. Solid dark brown, rich caramel and chocolate notes with just enough spicy yeasty essence to keep it from being a brown ale. Solid brew.
