Can from a Lazy Dog Dark brown color bordering on black with a huge bubbly tan head that quickly dissipates. Caramel creamed coffee and hints of chocolate on the nose with some light earth to round it out. Flavor follows the aroma but seems much sweeter than the aroma suggested. Might be slightly under attenuated the can was tough to finish.

12 oz. can (split 2 ways), purchased at Greg & Jane’s. Pitch black color with two fingers of khaki foam. Nose is coffee upfront with roasted grain and a soft cocoa powder. Palate follows with a medium to full mouthfeel that is creamy and silky. Soft chocolate flavors dance with roast and bold coffee. Among the best I have had from Hobbs.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from The City, Plaistow NH. Appearance is opaque black (brown/ruby at the bottom of the glass), light sparkle at the edge of the glass, 1.5-finger width foamy, light brown head with fair retention and light foamy/leggy lacing. Aroma is rich roasted coffee, dark chocolate and hint of dark fruits. Taste is strong coffee and dark chocolate with mildest dark fruit--nice mix of sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied with thick, smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and lingering bittersweet finish. Overall, not the most complex thing around but bold aroma and flavor and awesome palate. Well done!
