Quite literally the world’s gold standard for chocolate beer. This cacao monster just brought Vietnam its first ever gold medal in the World Beer Cup, the most prestigious beer competition in the world! Working closely with the good people at Maison Marou Chocolate, we tirelessly tasted cacao nibs from across the country until we developed the perfect blend. We then add these nibs to our Imperial Stout with a touch of Saigon cinnamon and hint of fresh vanilla beans from Mui Ne. The result: chocolate transcendence!

Keg at brewpub in Hanoi. Had to try Vietnam's best rated beer. Aroma is mostly booze but you can tell lots of chocolate involved. Nice look of dark black and gentle espresso foam. The taste is pretty butch but its hard to put a finger on it. Felt a bit messy to me.

Lots of complex aromas- peat, black patent, roast, cocoa, dark malt, leather, a bit of funk. Flavors are similar to nose, bump up the cocoa and add a little coffee, great balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Very smooth full and round. Alcohol is well hidden. Very nice.

Black and thick. Baking chocolate, bitter cocoa powder, soy sauce, finish is bittersweet and dry. Solid brew. Was hoping for more.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Lior D. Black. Dark chocolate, some oxidation, some vanilla, a bit of dark fruits, sweetish and a bit umami, bitter finish, some alcohol.

Bottle/Fest. A- Chilies, cinnamon, spice, cocoa. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, minimal head. T- Fruity, spice, chilies, cleaner, cocoa powder, earl grey tea. P- Full body, thin texture, average carbonation, slightly boozy finish. O- This was interesting. Had a really weird flavor combination that I can only think that tastes like an earl grey tea....orange zest, bergamot, and some other spice. Really average at best.
