Quite literally the world’s gold standard for chocolate beer. This cacao monster just brought Vietnam its first ever gold medal in the World Beer Cup, the most prestigious beer competition in the world! Working closely with the good people at Maison Marou Chocolate, we tirelessly tasted cacao nibs from across the country until we developed the perfect blend. We then add these nibs to our Imperial Stout with a touch of Saigon cinnamon and hint of fresh vanilla beans from Mui Ne. The result: chocolate transcendence!

pitch black color. Semi sweet with baker’s chocolate and vegetable. Semi sweet lots of molasses and baker’s chocolates. Low carbonation warming finish. Nice but not amazing

At MBCT. Pasteur Street Cyclo Imperial Stout 13% Nice mesquite Smokey type aroma with a full body and roasty chocolate flavor. Wonderful stuff.

Draft at Pasteur Street, Hanoi. Black with a tan head. Aroma of licorice, big floral notes, alcohol, dark chocolate, caramel and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at Pasteur Pub in HCMC. Black color, with brown head. Sweet chocolate aroma with some alcohol notes. Medium body. Little sourness and alco in taste.

Battle to the death with the wax on top. Sadly mad thin, all the carbonation has left this. Get the sensation that it once was a thick ultra chocolatey stout but now all that's left is chocolate water. Nothing else as it warms up. Boo disappointing.

On draft at the Pasteur Street tap room (the new one). It is a brownish black colorwith a tan head. The aroma is roasted coffee and the taste is a nice combination of coffee and bitter chocolate

Vietnam #1 at time of rating. Black with medium brown head. Aroma is melasses dark chocolate maple syrup licorice dark honey vanilla. Taste is full bodied sweet syrupy chocolate with quite some hop presence. Quite sweet but still balanced. Very smooth and drinkable. Good one.
