This is our salute to the embodiment of reliable home delivery in the mid-20th Century: the milk man. Like the profession it honors, this stout reliably delivers an extremely rich and smooth black brew with notes of chocolate and a hint of coffee. We used Irish stout malt, Special B, chocolate malt, roasted barley, and flaked oats. The addition of lactose at the end of the boil adds a pleasant sweetness. Milk Man Milk Stout is a collaboration between guest brewer Mike Gauthier and Confluence Head Brewer, John Martin. Cheers to Mike and all who enjoy a dark, delicious treat.

Draft at Iowa Taproom, De Monies. 3-16-2016,from notes. This was part of a second or third sample flight at Iowa Taproom, what a marathon of beer! Aroma is melted chocolate, sugar, light roasted grain.

Flavors of milk chocolate, sweet grains and moderate coffee traces. The finish is chocolatey with a mild bitterness left behind. Mouthfeel is creamy with mild lactose sweetness. Overall a well-executed sweet stout that is not overly sweet, nice coffee element and is yet another solid offering from this brewer.
