Beer Works Mighty Bean

Draft at Canal Street location before the Bruins played Pittsburgh Penguins. 2/24/2016. Deep dark brown, maby black color. Good thick white head that laced the 16 oz. tulip glass in sheets. Pitch black color with full lasting white head head. Aroma got me real excited as I smelled it. Lots of lingering vanilla beans, mild dark chocolate and roasted barley.

The flavor falls a bit short of the really great aromas. Vanilla, coffee hints and chocolate are all very muted. The texture was creamy and smooth over the tongue. Proper carbonation level and although the body was thin, it was about correct for the style.

ever so slight smell of coffee on good beer. Big & black fer sure. Yes, cold black coffee in the taste. All the way the java. Same with the finish. Alky is not forward. OK for a coffee stout, not in yer face. Has a bit of a kick but you’d never know its way above 7%. Yeah, not bad for a stout that’s close to an impy stout but with none of those rude ass attributes.
