TASTING NOTES: Rich malt combines with hints of dried fruit reminiscent of cherry, apricot and raisins to produce a complex bouquet. The light peppery spiciness from our house yeast appears mid palate to help balance the maltiness as the beer finishes semi-dry.

ABOUT DUBBEL DIMPLES: As the days get shorter, preferences turn to more complex, contemplative flavors. Dimples is designed with this in mind. Great as a reward for a spending a cool day outside enjoying the last of the weather. It also pairs well with more robust meals including stews, grilled red meat and serves as an excellent base for braising short ribs and duck quarters.

Another bottle purchased at RedStone Liquors, Stoneham, MA in my most recent trip. Color is a deep ruby/ borderline brown color, fast dying head, with soft carbonation level. Nose is subtle yeast, pumpernickel bread and light molasses.

The flavor starts with sweeter malt and hints of dark fruit. Plum, dates, brown sugar. Again pumpernickel hints. The flavors are all correct, the only true negative is the thinner then normal body and texture. Drinkable but the body could use some improvements.

Pours deep, hazy mahogany into a trappist glass. Off-white medium head with good retention coats surface. Mild dark pit fruit aromas. Medium bodied and dry with caramel and clove upfront turning turning to sour bitter earth in the lasting finish. The finish is not pleasant and really brings it down notches.
