HOW IT TASTES
Crafted with flaked oatmeal and roasted barley, this dark refreshing ale has notes of freshly roasted coffee beans, cocoa and touches of dried fruit.
HERITAGE
Originally brewed at the beginning of the Great War, when hops became harder to source. Rich and complex in style with a silky smooth mouthfeel due to the higher oil content in oats.

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear Festival 2016. Black beer lasting tan head. Juicy stout. Some sting on the finish. Some cereal. Some unfermentables left in. Ok.

12/11/2016 Cask handpull at the Shadingfield Fox, Suffolk. Pours dark brown almost black with a small off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and orange. Medium sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Body a little thin, texture is oily. Soft carbonation. Finish is slightly dry and roasty with lasting milk chocolate. Vey decent for a 4% stout. 7483-13 Updated 18/2/2017 Cask at the Murderers, Norwich. Pours very dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma of ash, peat, coffee, malt, chocolate. Light sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Light body and slight oily texture, carbonation is lively. Not as good as first time.
