Double IPA

Bottle, Chester Beer & Wine. Murky orange pour with a thin white head. Sweet, tropical fruity nose with some fragrant hop presence. Fairly gentle carbonation. Sweetish flavour with some excellent hoppage in attendance alongside notes of orange, spice and malts .Dried out nicely in a lingering bitter finish. A new brewery on me and this was very tasty stuff, might just be the best Cornish beer I’ve tasted.

On keg at the Craft Beer Rising event at the Drygate Brewery. Unfortunately with this one, there was a cardboard smell on the nose which I thought was strange since that fault is usually found in bottle if it does exist. The taste delivered on a tropical citrus - grapefruit and pineapple combination - with decent bitterness on the finish. I’ll retry this one when I see it next as I wonder if it was in perfect condition on this occasion.

Keg at the rake during the Firebrand tap takeover. Aroma is big hop, with orange peel, tropical fruits, sweet midget gems. Some resin on the nose. Mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a thin white head. Palate is medium bodied , semi sweet and high tingling carbonation. Finish is nice and dry. Flavour is biscuity malts with big well rounded juicy fruit hops. Orange peel and grapefruit. Some rough hop leaf and alcohol in the finish. Aggressive semi clean bitterness. Well made beer.

Bottle. Appearance is golden and a bit cloudy, with a slightly foamy white head. Aroma- orange, grapefruit, pine, citrus, fresh hops. Taste- juicy, plenty of hop bitterness, a bit of creamy malt, bitter fruit- orange peel, tangerine, grapefruit, gooseberry. Good, and gets better as it warms a bit.

330ml bottle, brewer tasting session @ Birmingham Beer Bash july 14. Pours hazy orange with thin white head. Good floral nose, a bold DIPA taste with solid orange marmalade fruitiness, bitter pith and more floral notes. Very nice.
