Citrus-heavy hops in a dry, yet assertive IPA... At Beer Camp, no beer style is off limits, so we jumped at the idea of doing a Golden IPA using wheat malt for a light, dry body and bold American and experimental hops for intense citrus flavor. The perfect spring seasonal, we invite you to enjoy this year’s Beer Camp encore.

Bottle. Slight hazy light gold body. Pillowy white head, lasting. Aroma of citrus, resin, orange, grapefruit, toasted grain, lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of citrus, some raw, leafy hops, resin, lemon. Juicy and nicely balanced.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Appearance is lightly hazy pale greenish-yellow with nice sparkle, 2-finger width foamy white head with good retention and lots of soapy lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit and citrus, somewhat astringent. Taste is less sweet tropical fruit and more bitter citrus. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick, foamy texture, average carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter dry finish. Overall, as advertised it is strong citrus but not much nuance to it. If that’s your thing, this is for you.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a big citrus hop with some green onion. Flavor is a decent but kind of minute citrus hop. There is a nice bitter bite after the swallow left on the tongue. A decent but not stellar IPA.

Draft pour pint, and then another at Cozy Inn, Kenmore. Thanks Bellringer! Light, hazy golden pour with a fading fizz head.vs oft, grain forward aroma. Flavor is pleasantly hoppy, and fronts the overall flavor profile. Slightly grassy. Straw. Refreshing golden. Definitely belongs in the IPA family. Solid hop profile. Quite enjoyable.

Keg at Tea Merchant. It pours clear golden with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, daisies, soap, straw, grass and sweet citrus. The taste is crisp, clean, drying bitterness, soft fruity vibe, melon, straw, elderflower, melon, citrus peel, pithy tangerine and a lickck of alcohol with a firm and dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Quite light and quaffable. Solid and easy drinking.

Keg at the King’s Arms, BG, 14/03/17. Clear golden with a well appointed off White head. Nose is tangerine, melon, straw, citric peel, fresh grass, toasted grains. Taste comprises melon, straw, tangerine, soft bread, lemon rind, airy malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with light hop bitterness. Clean easy drinking IPA, gateway type of beer, drinks fine but lacks the hoppy bite my palate craves.
