An Australian interpretation of an American IPA, using a combination of hops from three countries. Galaxy from Australia, Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand and Citra from United States. Malt flavours are derived from the combination of pale, wheat and crystal. Very hop forward showing strong pine and citrus notes, with stone fruit and passionfruit characters. The malt structure is beautifully matched with the dry hopping, giving this beer a refined balance.

(Bottle) Clear deep, slightly ruddy, golden with almost no head. Gentle interesting aroma with a mix of fruitiness, herbs and a slight flintiness. Light body with good carbonation. Light fruity start with little sweetness developing into a rather aggressive hoppy bitterness, which to me seemed to lack the complex tastes and was somewhat dull and aggressive. Pleasant enough, but doesn’t really do it for me.

Amber, with just a slight haze and a fairly rich bubbly head. Peachy-marmaladey aroma is pleasing. Light grapefruity bitterness, mild caramelly malts, fruity hops. Balanced if mellow IPA.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear amber colour, big frothy off-white head and aroma of citrus & resiny hop. Taste is malt caramel with earthy sweetish floral orange citrus and light pine bitterness. Smooth mouth feel, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable IPA.

There's a surprising amount of sweet malt, and I even get a bit of aspirin in the aftertaste. The aroma is grapefruit, pine, apricot, honey and biscuit. I don't hate it.

From a 330ml bottle on 12/5/2012. Not sure why has this been classified as an APA on here. Pours a slightly cloudy copper colour with an excessive head. Has a quite pleasant fruity, floral, hoppy aroma. The flavour is a bit disappointing and confused, with a slightly tart fruitiness (stone fruits) up front, followed by a blunt and quite long hop bitterness. Has an element of home brew about it. Certainly more interesting than other McLaren Vale efforts, but it should be given the style and the fact that the other beers I’ve tried from this brewer have been very ordinary indeed.

Tap. Hazy orange/ amber with a small white head. Aroma has citrus, gooseberries, vanilla, some caramel and pine. Taste is mildly sweet, but it’s rather empty in the malt department. Nectarines, gooseberries and passionfruit hop flavours are quite nice. Thinnish body, brief finish with modest bitterness. OK. [3.1]Guess that had been on awhile. Bottle. Much sharper citrus aroma, perhaps more tropical fruit too. Shows up - with a little pine - in the taste too. If anything, accentuates the emptiness of the malt side.
