Cask days 2014.
Quite acidic, even a little lactic. Some grassy hops, light tart cherries. Quite earthy, some light woodiness, candied fruit in the end, pleasant, but a full glass would be a bit much,

A reddish brown ale with a very thin off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with fruity notes, light ground cherry, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light grassy hops, light acidity, nice.

(On tap at Bryden’s, July 12 2014) Pours a hazy medium red-brown with a small whitish head of fine bubbles that lingered, bit of lace. Aroma when cold has a tart/sour cherry core with lots of bourbon and charred wood on top, while a sweet and slightly spicy caramel/dark fruit malt core is more apparent when warm. The flavour is similar - sour cherry at first turns into more of a dark malt/date flavour with tart accents while warm, and through it all there’s a strong but not overpowering bourbon/wood character, especially on the finish which is sweet/tart and kind of quenching. I found the beer pretty different cold and warm, but great the whole way through, which is super. Body medium, carb a bit sharp for my taste. It’s a lovely blend of flavours that called for a second one ASAP.
