Can from the brewery online shop. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice, dark chocolate too. Taste is more of the same. Cocoa powder finish.

Large can from That Beer Place, Chester. Chocolate, buttered shortbread and some vanilla in the aroma here. Pours pretty much jet black with a minimal dark beige head. There’s a viscous texture and alcoholic strength in the mouth. Hitting the tastebuds are blackcurrant pastry tarts, plums, figs and other dark fruits. Leaves a sweet fruity fleshy feeling in the mouth - and a warm alcoholic glow in the stomach ! Very nice, but not much of a “stouty” feeling about it.
