Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. There’s a strong aroma of chewy strawberry sweets. It the mouth it is smooth and sweet, but with some underlying bitterness. Strawberries are the main flavour for some sips – but are missing from others ! There’s some malts and caramel plus hints of ginger, with lemon coming into the equation later on. Finish is slightly bitter. This is nice enough, but the strawberry seems rather artificial.

A clear light golden colour with a small thin white head. Strawberry aroma overlaying a light sweet maltiness. Similar flavour, light sweet malt and strawberry with a light dry finish.

Cask @ Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale. Golden with a creamy head. Has an aroma akin to a fruit beer from Flanders and there’s plenty of strawberry in its taste as well, although the texture is familiarly ale-like.
