(Sample from 750ml bottle @ Koelschip tasting) Deep orange pour. Loose white ring of bubbles. Deeply musty nose with lots or red currant flesh, skin, red grape must, dry oak, a bit rotten in a good way. Flavour is moderately tart and creamy lactic and malic, yoghurt, soft but clearly acidic, red currants are present but not dominant, some drying wood, very low funk, citric acidity lingers into the finish. Lighter body, slick mouthfeel, very soft carb. Quite interesting, the fruit addition is not the dominant feature on the tongue but it’s mellowed into a solid package as a lambic.
