Pretty good little Schwarzbier, sporting a nice balance between chocolate malt sweetness and a dry, moderately roasted back end, with nuanced fruity lager notes layered throughout. Finishes with a pumpernickel bread flourish, leading to a mild bitter coffee fade. Never quite reaches the depth of dark malt glory you want, but still remains complex and drinkable despite its easy-drinking profile. Nose gives up chocolate, apple, and yeast. Pours a reddish brown with a brief off-white head and slight lacing. Sparkly texture and medium body help make the pint disappear quickly. Not a bad pint.
