On tap at The Great Dane - Hilldale, pours a clear pale copper with a small white head. Nose is dominated by the peppers, with a touch of vegetation character underneath. Flavour is quite spicy, with tons of habanero and jalapeo, medium-to-heavy spiciness, and a crisp finish. Lots of pepper flavour and spiciness. I like this a fair bit but this is a palate wrecker.

Keg at the brewpub, 8/15/16. Clear golden, thin fizzy tan head, poor retention. Aroma of fresh pepper notes, bready pale malt. The taste is fruity peppers, pale bready malt. Medium bodied, crisp, hint of lingering heat.

On tap at the downtown location. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy pepper with a grain backbone. Flavor has earthy and spicy pepper with a light grain backbone.

Sample at the downtown brewpub. Clear lustrous golden color with a medium ivory white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, peppers and hops. Light body with a subtle hot pepper character and notes of herbal hops and malt. The finish is mildly hot with a peppery aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at Great Dane, downtown Madison. Imperial pint pour with a big, yellow body and off white head. Looks filtered. Woah. All out sweet pepper aroma. Interesting stuff. Quite peppery, with a hot chili pepper finish. Habanero, Poplano, Jalapeno. Approaching Cave Creek territory, but a little more drinkable. Somewhat brutal, assumably a one-off. An interesting experiment, would probaly benefit from remaining unfiltered.

This is a fairly well-done pepper beer - the nose doesn’t give much of a hint of the peppers or spice (mostly noble hops and clean pils malt) - the flavor starts out with the earthy taste of the peppers, followed by a strong spiciness which borders of overpowering, but never becomes too much - this mellows out near the end, and the clean, crisp flavors of the base beer come out - spice lingers in the finish - puzzl would really like this stuff.
