Chocolate, pale chocolate and caramel malts combine with a classic Abbey yeast which delivers an unmistakable Belgian twist, notes spice and clove with a deliciously dry finish.

11/5/2018. Straight from cask at the Station House, Durham. Pours almost black with a slight maroon tint and minimal bubbly beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, yeast, ash, light spice and fruit. Medium fruity sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Dry, fruity, chocolate finish. Decent.

Gravity cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark brown, bordering on black with a loose tan head. Very clove-laden aroma with touches of pine and sweet liquorice. Tastes spicy and sweet, with cinnamon and clove (again) to the fore. Closes with an earthy and almost savoury finish. Some people will love this beer. I quite enjoyed it even though it wasn't really my cup of tea.
