Mid amber ale made with malted Maris Otter barley from Branthill Farm, Wells-next-the Sea and has a malty character with distinct bitterness on the finish. Named after the great Malthouse built in 1797 in Brancaster Staithe reputedly the country’s largest Malthouse at that time.

Tan head on a clear copper coloured body. Roasted & berry aroma. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a creamy back. Malt, caramel, berries & toffee tastes with a tangy citrussy finish. Nice one.

25/11/2018. Bottle from the Real Ale Shop, Wells. Pours clear pale amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, hops, fruit and biscuit. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Oily texture, average carbonation. Malty, fruity finish, minimal bitterness. Easy drinking sessionable bitter.

Cask at Jolly Sailors, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk. Clear, orange hued amber colour. Thin, white head. Aroma of granary bread. Red fruit. Taste is dry and fruity. Dry, orangey finish.
