Rated from growler, Sep 15, 07: Much improved under their new brewer, who’s dumped the extract and suger recipes from their brewery supplier. Look and smell is much more like style, blackish brown with a tan head. Smooth taste, touched only by a hint of sour cherry cordial that might have been due to a warm growler, but that’s also let some of the carbonation fizz out, so it’s close to a pub pull texture. Glad I got a chance to re-try it. Original rating, Sep 11 06: 4-3-5-2-9/2.3. Draft pint. When I visited, this was the only house brew they weren’t all out of. Suitably deep brown in appearance, thin brown head. First taste is rather sour, can’t decide if it’s intended as a staled stout or contaminated lines. Carbonated like a cola, which takes away from the mouthfeel. Coffee undertones manage to come up midway, followed by a bit of English hops.
