Handpull cask at the Pied Bull, Chester. Mahogany/brown, translucent with a small off-white head. Full aroma, some chocolate with almost savoury meaty notes. Bovril? Gravy? Nice. Sweet taste at first with light bitterness nearer the finish. Light body with soft carbonation. One hell of a mild with bags of character.

Cask at Pied Bull, Chester. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head. The aroma is a mix of malts, ash and nuts. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy – but with some underlying bitterness. Flavour has malts, lactose and cola, plus traces of dark fruits. Finish is fruity and slightly dry – this is decent.

10/2/2019. Cask at the Pied Bull, Chester. Poured dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, nut, moderate roasted malt and caramel. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Very nice mild, best of the 4 of their beers we tried.
