Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours a clear red-amber with thin off-white head. Aroma of plum, berries, caramel, malt, raisins. Taste of berries, citrus zest, toffee, bitter grassiness with spice notes. Light bodied. At first I found the conflicting flavour notes a bit odd but it turned out to be an interesting light red ale.

500ml bottle bought from Northumbrian Gifts. Purplish red and clear with an uneven ring of off-white head. Light aroma of chocolate, berry, grassy character. Taste is sweet at first, some berry and sweet spices, followed by an intense bitterness. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. It’s not bad.

Bottle from Taste of Northumbria. Appearance - deep orange to red. Nice lacy head. Nose - redcurrants and some orange. Taste - orange and tart red fruit, like sloe. Palate - crunchy through the middle and dry on the finish. Medium bodied. Overall - challenging but good.
