Inspired by cocktail expert David Wondrich, Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver brewed this beer as an homage to New York's most famous cocktail. A robust rye beer, partially aged in Rittenhouse 100-proof Bonded Rye barrels from the Heaven Hill Distilleries, and then infused with the herbs and spices that flavor red vermouth and bitters, and just a dash of tart cherry.

Draught. I actually thought this was a pumpkin ale. Anyway it was nice and spicy and good. Poured brown with cinnamon.

Cloudy brown beer. Frothy biscuit coloured head. Lightly sour nose. Soft and dry palate. Immediate sour fruity herbs. Sour enough to raise an eyebrow but nowhere near pucker levels. The Vermouth herbs and spices really sing through and complement the sourness. The finish is soft and dry and redolent of Vermouth. Fruity, lightly herby and spicy and unusual. Pretty good!

One of the few beers I am rating from GABF. Pours and amber and really does taste more like a cocktail then a beer. i get cherries and malt, it kind a sweet and watery mouthfeel for my taste. actually wasn’t crazy about this creation.

draft at 800 degrees in Ft Wayne - Pours dark amber with a small head and smells of malt, rye, and spice. The flavor is of sweet malt, an ample rye profile, and spices. It’s medium to full bodied and very good.

On tap at Finch’s. Poured a murky dark brown with a yellow hue and a small tan head. Aroma has a caramel and grain note with an undertone of sweet spices and a bit of alcohol. Flavor begins sweet with a caramel note, but the vermouth spices grow and balance nicely.

@Zero Gravity Flatbread–on tap-pours a light tan head and copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt, fruit-banana/peach/mango, some spice. Taste is nutmeg, apple/cherry, medium malt, yeast. Interesting and kind of disjointed.

Draught at Barcade, New York
Cloudy amber color. I can’t find any point in this bold but extremely boring Ale, with nutty finish and strong bitterness.

On tap at Brass Tap in Wesley Chapel, FL. Pours clear amber with copper edges and firm tall tan head. The aroma is very malty and sugary sweet with spiciness and rye swirling around. The taste begins sweet and creamy becoming very very full with rye, spices and a solid sweet wheat like sensation. Full force flavor here. I wonder how it will age. I’m guessing it will be yum.

Draft: Cinnamon and plum aroma. Cloudy ochre, thin head. Flavor is of vanilla and cherry with tobacco undertones, finishing with berries. Very creamy. Balanced, tasty, and distinctive. The downside is it is a little tentative.
