Every year we participate in the Ales for ALS fundraiser where we are sent a pre-established and donated hop blend from @yakimachief to brew whatever we want with. This year we created a highly hopped West Coast IPA (with only the ALS hop blend). This year’s blend contains mostly Simcoe, Ekuanot and Mosaic with lesser amounts of HBC 630, Citra, Loral, Sabro and Ahtanum.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 17, 2020. Aroma is hop forward and fruity with mango, orange, tangerine, grapefruit and lighter dank, resin notes. Light cracker malt notes and a hint of alcohol. Pours a fairly clear, gold color with a large, thick, pillowy white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers in clumps on the edges. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light cracker malt notes. Moderately strong bitterness with light alcohol spice. Quite a bit of orange, tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit and mango hop notes with lighter, dank, resinous notes as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice IPA with a decidedly citrus forward hop profile. West Coast bitterness with a somewhat sweet, lighter malt profile. very easy to crush some of these despite the ABV.
