Not the best idea for a beer, taking a style already on the sweet side without adjuncts and stuffing it full of lactose. Pretty dark red pour, but the nose is cardboardish and a little off. Taste reminds me of saccharine chocolate candy, with vanilla from the lactose and caramel from the malts doing nothing to abate the sugary center. Mild berry notes appear as well, but the medicinal bitterness on the back end pretty much kills any interest here. What a mess.
