An extra pale ale that’s super refreshing with subtle notes of grapefruit and pineapple.

A final beer of a Rail Sale ticket evening out in York, which was a sample. Deeper coloured golden beer with a regular but also a very healthy bitter-malty taste, a decent regular bitter when all said and done in that style.

Cask at Ship Aground, Stafford (as Merchant XPA). Pours a cloudy pale straw with a sizeable almost white head and good lacing. There’s tropical fruits and oranges in the aroma, plus hints of generic citrus. In the mouth it is somewhat sweet and decidedly fruity with pineapple, oranges, floral notes and traces of grapefruit. Later on some hints of lime are added to the mix, leading to a fresh and fruity finish. Not the sort of beer I would normally go for at all, but this is quite nice.

Cask at two trees watford. A clear bright gold yellow coloured pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is soft bready, floral citrus, lemongrass, pollen, meadow. Flavour is composed of semi crisp, floral, citrus, light grass, green straw, twist of lime. Very easy going and sesionable. Palate is crisp, light, tannin, good cask condition. Very chuggable.
