The Sleeping Warrior is a view of the mountains connected with The Island of Arran, which it is claimed resembles that of a sleeping knight with his shield laid across his chest, resting from battle.

Bottle at home... Dark brown.. Thin tan lacing.. Soft dusty toffee fruit nose... Soft herbal t.. Boozy woody fruity.. Long bitter herbal fruits

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Swirl and halo of tan. Nose has vine fruit. Baked apple. Thick, sweet malts. Soft toffee. Taste is fruity, vinous, and tangy bittersweet. Plenty of body. Some sweet chew. Finishes tangy, fruity, and vinous. Tasty and drinkable, but not my bag really.

bottle. Nose is toffee, malt, dates, brown sugar, hint of honey. Taste toffee, dates, prune, malt, treacle, hint of light peat and smoke, some red berry and apple, a little wood. Moutfeel is slick. A very nice barley wine, and the hint of a wood and the darker malt flavours, gave a suitable nod to it’s area of origin.

Deep amber color with a lasting tan head on top. Ok lacing. Toffee, fruity, marmalade and some wood. A really tasty and nice barley wine. Not as sweet and sticky as many others. Still a quite full body and a pleasant carbonation. Tad sweet and a balanced bitterness.

Bottle at ash’s. Pours deep amber brown, nose is sweet toffee, caramel, light smoked malt, taste is dry, wood, sweet toffee, bitter.

Bottle from Arran brewery. Appearance - dark brown and murky but nice head. Nose - marmalade, toffee and spicy at the back. Maybe liquorice. Taste - oranges and syrup. Dry woody backdrop. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - a decent example of the style.

Bottle at Ashton McCobb’s. Pours dark amber with a thin beige head. Aromas of toffee, brown coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is toffee, vanilla fudge, sweet sticky finish.
