Bottle from Cellar Blackrock [230714]
Pitch black, frothy beige fluffy head, good lacing
Aroma of roasted malts, soft spicy, herbal note in there, dab of root ginger
Taste - Very odd initially...herbal, bit minty, spicy, dark malts underneath, some ginger-like flavour, tasty, very spicy...I like it
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, smooth, fairly sweet. Finish - more dark and some plain chocolate comes thorough to offset the craziness.
Overall - Good spicy porter...found it got less odd with the drinking

on draft @ B&C. Dark ale pour, some light allowed through, medium off white head that stays throughout the beer, not a lot of lacing. Aroma is mild chocolate, lemons, toast. Flavor is odd with the tea added in, I’m not sure what I was expecting but as the beer warmed up, the tea made it cloying to the point where the end of the beer became a bit of a chore. Interesting idea, but overall I’m not sure if it works.
