Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. A brewery that I normally swerve, but you know, this is in a can with a promise of gooseberry and grapefruit from packing the beer with nelson. American ale yeast. Oats and wheat. What can wrong? Holy shit! For a start it’s completely clear, with a thick, bright white head (admittedly it’d make a good looking pils). The aroma is a grim mix of clarified butter and privet leaves. The taste is horribly bitter, with a buttery sweetness. Flabby mouthfeel. Nasty bitterness to finish. Bad.

Can from Wincle brewery. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of sponge cake and orange pith. Flavour of creamy sweetness and lemon. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Creamy and refreshing.
