Our recipe for First Light evolved from our desire for a pale, suitably hopped session beer. A combination of Liberty hops, two pale malts, American yeast and dry hopping with even more Liberty hops makes our American pale ale a clean, crisp, drinkable beer with a lovely delicate hoppy flavour.

500ml bottle from Turners Sheffield - Clear gold, flat and uninspiring looking. Nose misses the whole APA brief, there’s some sweet citrus there, not much else in the way of hoppiness. Taste misses by even more, and too thin on the mouthfeel. Bit over ambitious for a first brew.

Bottle. Turner’s, Sheffield. Clear gold. Headless. Grassy hop. Some privet leaf. Pale, bready malts. Not the least bit APA. Taste is grainy sweet. Some buttery thing going on. Medium bodied. Buttery, grainy sweet finish. Not for me.
