Cask at Slaters, Stafford Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small cream head and good lacing. Nose has a mix of honey and malts which carry through to the mouth. The creamy texture also hides malts, fruits and hints of liquorice. Dark fruits pervade the finish. Nice and very drinkable.

Handpull cask at the Fort St George, Cambridge. Black, opaque with a ring of khaki head. Sweet smell with notes of liquorice, coffee and rosewater. Taste is sweet as well although there are some over-roasted malts providing bitterness in the background. More bitterness in the long finish, with cooked vegetable and agave syrup notes in the aftertaste. Thin body for a porter. By no means perfect, but it’s perfectly drinkable. I’m quite fond.
