Appearance is murky maroon, purple tinge, then darker as the ink comes out, an off-white head of around one finger. Aroma is lots of blackberry, cherry, plum, berry fruit. Taste is blackberries, blackcurrant, cherry notes, plum, apple, fruit crumble, tart fruit. Fruity sweet finish, full-bodied for the abv.

Keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh, 05/10/24. Dirty reddish brown topped with a beige cap. Nose is cherry skins, herb, earthy plum, straw, tangy berries and dried fruits. Taste comprises tarte berries, sharp plum, light acidic streak, hedgerow, herb. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow puckering climax. Not bad.

Can at home. Deep hazy slightly purple colour with a thin head. Aroma and taste are tart to sour fruity cherry. Crisp full body.

440ml can. Pours deep purple with a small head. Aroma is earthy and cheesy sour blackberry and cherry. Taste has sour cherry to start with a salty, sour finish.

On tap at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Murky mauve coloured pour. Dark jammy fruits, liquorice, raisin & black cherry aromas. Taste is cherry drops, liquorice, tart dark fruits, prunes. Jammy sour aftertaste.

Opaque, very dark beer with a verrh slight purple tinge. Cherry at the forefront of the aroma. Big slightly tart cherry flsvour, maybe just a hint of salt / umami from the squid ink but I might be imagining that. Sharp, sweet, fruit and super drinkable.
