Older description: One of the two beers brewed specifically for our second anniversary is a collaboration between Breakside’s Sam Barber, Lompoc’s Irina Bierzynski, and 10 Barrel Brewing’s Mayme Berman, all alums of Lewis & Clark College. It is a sharply sour German wheat ale made from a 100% sour mash, infused with the tart and tropical flavors of passionfruit.

650ml bottle. (4.0% ABV) Pours a cloudy golden with a large, fizzy, short lived, white head that laces. Sweet, fruity aroma of passionfruit, stone fruit, lemon and wheat malt with sour notes in the background. Sweet, fruity flavour of passionfruit, lemon, wheat malt and yeast with a crisp, dry, sour, slightly acidic finish. Light body with an oily texture and lively carbonation. A delicious, refreshing, easy drinking Berliner.

Sampled from a 22 oz. bottle in line at Zwanze. Pours hazy, yellow, with a small, foamy, white head. The nose is grapefruit and mango, cloves, white bread, and honey. Sweet and mildly fruity, with a mild, easy tartness. Light body, efferevescent, crisp, and acidic. This is a fun, fruity, light sour.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of sour passionfruit with a bit of acid and some sweet grains. Flavor is full of passionfruit that starts sweet and earthy with a sourness that grows throughout.
