A collaboration with the Grand Canyon Brewery, this farmhouse saison derives characteristics from locally grown pistachios from the Arizona Pistachio Co. out of Sanoita, Ariz. The pistachios were coarsely ground and steeped in the fermenter post-fermentation to exhibit subtle creamy nut tones and a unique mouthfeel as the lipids from the nuts fill the palate. Sonoran white wheat from Sossaman Farms lay a canvas for this rustic ale. Overall, this balance and exclusive locality make this beer perfect for the hot summer months.

Draft/Fest. A- Pistachio nuts, oranges. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Citrus, oranges. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, refreshing finish. O- Honestly, if it wasn’t in the name, I probably wouldn’t guess there are pistachios in here. However, after knowing and attempting to detect them, while I couldn’t taste any I could definitely pick them up on the aroma. Decent beer.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits an opaque deep gold body that has dull copper hues and supports a bright white head. The aroma offers up fruity pears and apples and a slice of banana or two just in front of mild subtle maltiness. The taste is similar with pear to apple fruitiness and then a modest bite of tartness. It gets a tad sweet toward the finish where presumably the nuttiness comes to the surface and it seems to have a nutty fruity sort of an edge to it as well. Fun brew.
