Draft. A- Coffee, roasty, espresso, dark cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Black coffee, roasted, dry cocoa, slightly bitter. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, dry roasted bitter finish. O- This is most definitely a beer Thunderhead needs to be brewing regularly. Possibly the best beer they have ever brewed. Looking at rates, it looks like it used to be a yearly lineup but they must have taken a long break. Well I hope it’s back to stay. The aroma and appearance are on par with the likes of Founders Breakfast stout. The palate was good but a little tweaking would make it great. Just a tad too heavy on the bitterness and roasted notes. It came out very dry. Can’t honestly complain thought. Just wish it was a regular beer and canned. Very tasty. Reminded me a lot of those chocolate covered espresso beans you can buy but in liquid form.

[At GABF 2004] An opaque brown beer with a small orange head. The aroma is of roasted coffee - lovely. The flavor is sweet and very coffeeish combined with notes of chocolate, which reminds me of a cappuchino. But the end is dry and roasted - so it is not cappuchino all the way.
