Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 04/02/24. Black with a tan cap that soon vanishes. Nose is roast malts, earthy, nutty, toasted brown sugars, cocoa powder. Taste comprises dried fruit esters, vinous, tangy, bitter roast, not getting the sweetness I'd expect for something billed as Pecan Danish! Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable pastry affair ... lacks depth for 7% and comes over rather thin.

20/1/2024. Can shared at CLBF/IKL. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours close to black with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma is maple, pancake, blueberry, caramel, dark fruits, raisins. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, light tartness. Moderate body, above average carbonation. Boozy dried fruits maple finish.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours almost completely black with a strong beige head. Has a nose which is mainly maple, with smoky traces. Flavour is dominated by roast malts and maple syrup. Also nuts and hints of dark fruits. Despite all these tastes, it still feels a bit watery. Finish is where the alcoholic strength comes through. Doesn’t quite live up to its initial promise – but still very nice.

Handpull cask at the Bailey Head, Oswestry. Dark brown, bordering on black, with a small tan head. Fresh butter croissants, a bit of maple, some charred malt in the aroma. Taste comes together superbly: sweet and decadent with some earthy stone fruit bitterness creeping in to the finish. The sip ends quite bitter, with a touch of maple, black grape and cooking chocolate in the aftertaste. Full body, flat carbonation. Lovely.
