Mackeson is a full-bodied milk stout that is “not too sweet and not too bitter.” Its overall sweetness is well balanced by a bitter chocolate characteristic, a signature of the chocolate malt used to brew the stout.

Draft at the brewery, 11/2/25. Dark brown, medium brown head. Sweet malt, chocolate, caramel, molasses. On the sweet side for me. Smooth and easy drinking. Solid.

20/1/2024. Bottle shared at CLBF/IKL. From DanF, cheers. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Aroma is molasses, chocolate, liquorice, caramel, roasted malts, biscuit, coffee, dark fruits. Medium sweetness, roasted bitterness and body. Creamy and smooth, average to soft carbonation. Enjoyable.
