750mL undated, drunk 8/3/16.
Hazy, near-cloudy, dull-brass-golden body is topped by a very large, off-white head that shows very strong retention for a gose.
Tons of coriander in the nose, but the spicy character is all you get, with no astringency, that being blanketed/softened by the big salinity and juicy juniper. Almost a bubble gum-like character to the nose, though I think that’s just the mix of the adjuncts. Soft grains, honey, biscuit, white bread and such all prevalent in the aroma with a very mild lactic character. I like that it’s mostly about the yeast, malt and adjuncts here, not the lactic addition. Big minerality with light coriander and fruitiness lingering. No alcohol or flaw.
Very salty in the mouth, with the salt rounding/softening the beer and removing any potential bite from acid, be it juniper, coriander or lactic-derived. Seems very full, with the tight, fine carbonation additionally contributing to its perceived fullness. Moderate spiciness on the back-end, with honey, sweet sponge cake and easygoing yellow fruits/bubble gum. Saltiness lingering. The full, salty texture coupled with the sweet malts do get a bit much after a while, but it’s certainly unique and not your average half-assed American gose. A stronger dryness would really make this exquisite.
