This beer is an excellent, well-balanced example of a classic American style Amber Ale. Pacific Northwest hops balance the malty, caramel flavor with a nice herbal hop finish. Hops: Nugget, Mt. Hood

Bomber from Total Wine West Richmond, VA. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a fizzy medium sized head that fades to nothing almost immediately. I’ve gotten longer lasting head from Coca-Cola. Yeesh. Aroma of sweet, grainy caramel malts with a bit of diacetyl. The taste is grainy malts, caramel, leafy hops, mild diacetyl, bitter vegetal finish. Thin-medium bodied. Not a good effort.

Mushroomy rich barley malt and tea aroma. Clear reddish copper, no head. Dry and slightly tart, watery mouthfeel. Dried leaf flavor, finishes with a kiss of bitterness. I suspect that this is made with extracts, it’s just so watery and nothing really comes together well.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours clear amber with white head. The aroma is malty sweet with crystal malts, lightly roasted malts and then prunes, raisins, date meat and growing level of sweet caramel malts. The taste has caramel malt notes and dashes of sweet dark fruity esters. It then moves toward an increasing level of vague hop bitterness. Thin watery finish.

Draught at The Viking, Spokane, WA. Clea copper colour, small head. Mildly roasty with unfortunate notes of chlorine. Fairly sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Salty bitter finish where chlorine gets ever more present.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours lightly hazy dark copper with very little head. Aromas of roasted caramel and fruit hop. Medium body with sharp, but mild, carbonation. Seems a bit buttery. Otherwise a little bready, and not a lot of hop, just enough to add some fruit. Decent amber.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-red color with a quickly fading off-white head. Seawater amber malt with a solid hop undertone in the aroma. Lots of specialty malt, crystal presumably, give it a thick mouthfeel for a beer of it’s relative low ABV. Easy drinking and sessionable, while still havign a decent flavor profile. Solid syrupy West Coast hop backbone is certainly present, but never dominating or astringent. Semi-soapy amber malt aftertaste. Pretty solid amber overall.

Bottle: Hazy copper brown color with a very small white head. Nose is hoppy and a bit sour, some maltiness. Taste is softer citrus hops leaving a wet mouthful. Malty and rye? A little sour and grainy presence turned me off.
