Yuzu and Ugli fruit infusions twisted together with the blueberry, tangerine notes of Mosaic make for a tangy, juicy, zesty array of aroma and flavor. Salivation will instantly ensue with one sniff of this crushable brew (5.8% ABV, 60 IBUs) that was inspired by a Yuzu brew we made with some brewing friends in Japan.

12oz can. Filtered tan body with a thin white head. The yuzu has sort of an off funky earthy fruity tone, the Mosaic tones reign it in a little. I am completely unfamiliar with Ugli fruit but imagine it adds some of the mild rindy citrus tones. Modern tasting stuff, relatively unqiue, but sort of needs the finesse of a good Japanese beer to make it work...this one tastes rushed and streamlined. Still a decent offering.

Kind of a light, gentle nothingburger of an IPA, easygoing yet also lacking in any defining characteristics. The yuzu and ugli fruit are subtle to the point of being almost nonexistent, any potential accents they might add instead coming across as the normal tropical notes so prevalent in most new IPAs these days. Mosaics add a firm floral bitterness that sways both piney and citric, but the malts seem light for the style, and the finish, while bitter, leaves you waiting in vain for the fruit to show through. Not a bad beer by any means, but fairly nondescript for such an international recipe.

Can from Wine Warehouse. Pours golden with a small off-white head. Aroma is intense pine and citrus, along with a hint of stink bug. Flavor is citrus, pine, green fruit - I guess this is the flavor of the fruits I don’t know, light bread. Interesting.

Draft at J’s. Pours a clear gold with a half-finger of foam. Light melon-like nose with some earthy peach. Clean on the palate, good carbonation. Couldn’t find any yuzu but still enjoyable as an APA I guess. Good summer beer.

Can: Clear gold with a tall, thick , off-white head. Spicy fruit and rind aromas. Taste is sweet/spiced orange malt, grapefruit, assorted exotics/tropicals. Very juicy....almost nectary and pulpy. Refreshing, summer-y, and delicious.
