The brown Saint Médard is brewed with elderberries. it is a very pleasant beer to drink by the fireplace when it is cold outside.
It wears a brown color with dark ruby reflections, its brown head is creamy and beautifully held. It presents a hoppy, bitter and roasted nose. Its flavor on the palate is semi-dry, finely caramelized with nuances of toasted-roasted. At the end of the palate, we can distinguish the notes of red fruit which round off the roasted taste of the special malts.

Au Baron yeast
Brewed with elderberries
Malt: Pale-Ale, Pilsen, Munich, Ruby, Chocolate.
Hops: Brewersgold, Halerteau, Strisselspaltz

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at One Pint Pub, 20130814) The beer poured brown and hazy. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had caramell, fruitiness and spices. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramell, toasted malts, sweetness, hint of spices and low bitterness. Afteraste was watery and sweet. A weak Belgian bruin.

bottle from Village de la Bière Strasbourg, labelled "Brasserie Au Baron Saison St. Médard brune" - there is also an ambrée available. Hazy brown colour, large beige head. Fruity nose with caramel. Rather light for 7%, fells a lot lighter. Malty, caramel, blueberries, black currant, red grapes, a bit vinous. Smooth carbonation. Nice.
