Bottled. Deep reddish brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, whiskey and some wooden elements. Flavour is quite strong on the alcohol, has a bunch of sweet malts, some sweet dried fruits, toffee and mild liquorice.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottle #4944 - BB 15.11.2023, 11% ABV, at Black Door, 20200116) The beer poured deep mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, vanilla and grass. Palate was medium bodied, warming and rather dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, grass, vanilla, wood and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody and bitter. A too woody brew with some pleasant notes.

Bottle from Beautiful Beers in Bury St Edmunds and the top-rated beer at the EU themed 2nd Ipswich bottle share. Pours a deep brown with a large off-white head. Beautiful malty aroma, with chocolate, and roasted coffee. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Full bodied, with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Very good.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is toffee, caramel, vanilla, malty, taste is sweet, biscuity, dry, quite hot. Just too boozy and sweet for me.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge convention, 24/01/2015. Thanks to whomever brought it along. Aroma is decent nutty choc, praline, little veg. Not much hop on the nose. Clear mahogany brown coloured pour with a thin creamy head. Flavour is composed of nutty, harsh solvent, stale grains, astingent dark malts. Palate is semi-sweet, moderate carbonation. . Not a huge fan.

24th Jan 2015: bottle shared at the Cotteridge Wine meet. Slight haze to the dark body, on top a thin tanned head. The nose was roasted/toasted malts with chocolate hints and dark fruitiness, some hops in there too. The taste similar in nature to the aromas, malts first and foremost with a bitter chocolate follow up. Good alcohol kick within the brew, heavy but nice!
