Draft at social brewery during the eagle rock tap takeover. Opaque black/ reddy hues with a lasting whisky tan head. Aroma is sweet nutty roasted malts, choc, vanilla. Flavour is composed of big hot alcohol , tangy apple, roasted burnt toast, bitter dark choc. Palate is milky, medium bodied. Moderate to low carbonation . lingering acrid roast and apple.

Poured up on tap at beer rev. with dark body supporting a mocha colored ring of foam. The aroma is big with malt sweetened and molasses sweetened oily dark roasted coffee as well as some earthy wet cigar tobacco, a bit of chocolate malts and some dark roasted malts. Smells pretty nice. The taste is sweet with malts and molasses and then rolls into coffee, chocolate and more sugary sweetness. It sort of takes on a vanilla like note here and there too. Overall the malts and other notes don’t balance out the load of sweetness. It lingers for a while with dark roasted coffee.

On tap at Steingarten LA. Pours with a black body and a lasting tan head. Full pint pour, and this stuff is DANGEROUS! Aromas are malty, bready, smooth, milk chocolate and brown sugar. Medium esters of dates, currants and vanillas. Mild coffee and roast. Flavors are incredibly smooth, mellow and rich. Lighter chocolate and brown sugar characteristics. Extremely nice malt complexity. Softer on the dark malts, with a very mild deep roast character. Almost no alcohol detectable. Smooth, velvety and decadent with a fuller body and softer carbonation. Great! Looking forward to the bourbon version!
