Handpull cask at the Prince of Wales, Cambridge Street, Birmingham. Light gold, clear as a bell with an uneven and slightly loose white head. Aroma gives earthy malt, light sweet citrus, melon notes. Sweet taste, an almost savoury yeast flavour swept away by the hoppy citrus. Finish threatens to get too bitter then backs off a little. Gentle body, soft carbonation. A lovely offering from Mallinsons.

Cask at the Craven Arms, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear golden blonde colour with an everlasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, yeast, light tropical citrus. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a smooth, malt, yeasty, grapefruit pineapple, mango, piney hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. One of the best cask ales I’ve had in a while.
