Scanium is a collaboration beer brewed April 28, 2015 by Brekeriet, To Øl and Stillwater at Brekeriet's brewery in Sweden.
A rustic, complex and tart old style saison fermented in three sweet wine oak barrels for ten months.

(On tap @ CBC 2016 Yellow Session, Copenhagen) Pours a really hazy pale gold colour with a huge white head that lasts fairly well. Aroma has a load of milky, cheesy funk dominating, some oak, a bit of lacto and lemon underneath, maybe a bit of overripe pit fruit, a lot of nuances masked by the cheese though. On the palate, a bit less cheesy than the nose but still lead by cheesy funk, doughy malt, a bit of lacto, some funk, oak. Lemon juice acidity mellows as it warms, letting out some sweet white grape and a bunch of wood start to take over more. A bit of a mulchy mess of funk towards the finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. I think if it was a bit less overbearingly funky, I would enjoy it even more, because when the barrels could show their stuff it was quite nice. Drinking this outside the venue is forever associated with seeing Shaun Hill nearly get taken out by a rapid young Danish woman cycling rapidly over cobbles, uninterested in slowing for him to merge as he rode off to lunch. Disaster averted.

75 cl-flaska delad på Beer-Ditch stora Brekerietprovning med bröderna Ek. Smak och doft av söta äpplen, päron, hö, funk, vete och citrus. Vinös, lätt syrlighet, komplex, fin mjuk sötma, bra syra. Fantastiska aromer i jämn och fin balans, något sträv. Underbart gott och Skåne får nya dimensioner!

75 cl-flaska delad på Beerditch stora Brekerietprovning med bröderna Ek. En riktigt fin doft med massor av funk, lätt syrlig med citrus och vete. Lätt, mjuk men tydlig syra, komplex och funkig. Vinös med en lätt sötma från faten lyfter smakerna. Jag tänker Girardin med sin komplex funkiga karaktär och perfekt avvägd syra. Det bästa bröderna gjort. Hittills.

Draught@CBC2016. Yellow colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruity, citrusy, some floral and mild yeasty notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, some tartness, nectar and mild wooden notes. Quite a dry palate.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, tartness, berry, yeast, fruity, funk and citrus. Taste is light to medium sweet, light bitter and light to medium sour with a long dry, citrus, berry and funky finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

[ As Brekeriet / To Øl / Stillwater Scanium ].Unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate hoppy, citrus, leather, farmyard, tart fruit - grapes, apple, grapes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a average duration, grapes, tart, dry, farmyard, funky. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20160521]

Bottle - Light petroleum funk, very gueuze like. Clearish light gold with a small white head. White grape, funk and a nice finish. Awesome.
