Can from House of Trembling Madness, 2 weeks past BBE. Pours a hazy/murky dark gold with small white head. Aroma has quite a funky hemp aroma with a tangy pineapple and some spice notes. Taste has more of the pineapple fruitiness with a herby lighter skunkiness compared to aroma, quite tangy with some yeast notes and a solid malt profile. Interesting, never had a hemp IPA before. Jury is still out for me on the concept although the pineapple gives a nice contrast to it and works well.

Super hazy golden and bright yellow coloured body with a three centimetre tall off-white and tan head that fades fairly quickly, but leaves a nice lace on the sides. Aroma of super funky resinous and dank grassy notes (the hemp?), some dry malts with flowers, but all ending with a funky canned pineapple note - definitely not fresh fruit here. Medium-bodied; Very rich lactose and icing sugar notes here with a big malt presence and a kick of papaya and melon, but again, the funkiness from the yeast and especially the hemp notes dominate, but lead the palate to non-IPAy flavours. Aftertaste is rich, especially with sugars and lactose, but the canned pineapple is here as well, and leaves a bit of tart notes with all the sugars, but the funk from the hemp is by far the strongest, and not the best in my book. Overall, a very funky and rich beer with a fairly cloying sweetness that shows the pineapple, but the lactose and hemp are way too strong and odd-tasting for me. Neat to try, but definitely not worth searching for or getting unless you love hemp? I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from The Beer Store in Philadelphia (Franklin Mills), Pennsylvania on 17-January-2022 for US$4,99, canned on 17-August-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 27-January-2022.

Can (best by 12/26/21) pour from The Packie. It's an opaque light brown-dark yellow with no sparkle, thin cap of off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong skunky cannabis from the second the pop top cracks with faint sweetness in the background--might be pineapple. Taste is similar to aroma but skunky cannabis is more muted and pineapple a bit stronger. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, hemp is on the unpleasant skunky side, especially on aroma.
