Can from Beer52. Pours dark brown/near black with small beige to tanned head, modest retention. Quite roasty in aroma, dark chocolate, coffee, hop spice; fairly standard notes but nice intensity. Flavour follows from aroma but with hint of a berry tang. Quite spicy with roasted bitterness in finish. Very nice. Body is fairly light which on one hand makes it sessionable as advertised but is strangely frustrating as I feel it could be a cracking beer with more body to it.

Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours a murky dark from with a small beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, oats and just a hint of peppermint. In the mouth it is slightly watery. There’s a brief initial sweetness before bitterness takes over. Flavours are oats, malts, caramel and chocolate with some coffee in the slightly dry finish. This is nice.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A cloudy peaty brown pour with a fast fading beige head; lactic malt aroma; burnt caramel and roasted malt taste; with a light dry grainy bitterness and some coffee grounds in the finish. Very drinkable, but lacking a little body weight to be my perfect porter.

Rocky tan head on a still brown body. Malt, cardboard & bitter coffee aroma. Medium bodied, smooth followed by a lively back. Coffee, nutty, roasted, flour & blueberry with a lightly hopped finish. Deece.
