This is a modern take on a traditional farmhouse style Biere de Garde. The 'blonde' version is straightforward pale aged on oak for a creamy finish, and a medium body, this beer is still refreshing enough whilst being moreish and satisfying.

Murky brown with decent off-white head. Aroma is a bit like a brown ale, slightly meaty, malty, nuts, slight dust and straw. Taste is not like a brown ale; somewhat yeasty and dry but extremely metalic, nuts, light caramel, tangy. Drinkable but halfway towards unpleasant.

Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours a hazy rich reddish brown with a very transient minimal tan head. As for the aroma, well the can is distinctly woody whereas the glass has malts and caramel. In the mouth it is sweet and quite bready with cola, caramel, malts and toffee. Finish is quite yeasty. Decent – a lot better than I expected.

Foamy off white head quickly left a dark reddish brown body. Malt, caramel & woody aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on tongue with a tingle on the back. Malt, woody, caramel & toffee tastes with hints of Ribena in the finish. Some poor reviews of this beer & I'm a big hater of Beer52's fake breweries but I've left this a month (I didn't really want to drink it!) It's actually not bad. Perhaps time has done it done justice.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A liefeless murky chestnut brown pour after a fast fading white head; malty aroma; earthy malt taste with some caramel; then some soggy cardboard in the finish. Insipid and uninspiring.
