Truly one for fans of this style. With its deep caramel flavours and tell tale citrus and pine aromas, Nineteen Dollar Return is as smooth ride of a beer. With a delicious mellow bitterness that runs throughout it will leave a long lasting impression and at 6.5% abv, a thoroughly enjoyable drinking experience.

Tap at The Craven Arms, Birmingham. My first from this brewery. Pours a murky creamy brown, almost like a very creamy chocolate milkshake with little head, no retention. I don't mind the colour, it's a point of difference, but it suggests a muddled flavour and that's exactly what this is. In fact it's a bit bland. Some pine, caramel, hint of grapefruit but nothing distinctive. Nothing wrong with the mouthfeel, good mid body and fine carbonation.

440 ml can, online from Hop Vault, Stourbridge. Pours hazed orange with a slim beige cap. Aroma: caramel, toast. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, caramel, vague pine. Medium body with light carbonation. Didn't live up to the WCIPA moniker in my view.
