Gentle roast and treacle up front followed by a balancing bitterness, the classic German hop Tettnanger brings an earthy balance to this Baltic style porter.

Can from Beer52. Pours brown with an orange-red hue, small beige head, mild retention. Aroma and taste of treacle, caramel, hint of coffee, roast, herbs. Quite thin for the style, some oiliness on the palate with a spicy finish. [Hops: Tattnanger] [Brewery #1136]

[33cl can from Beer52, brewed for them at St Ives Brewery, Cornwall.] A cola coloured pour with a tight cream coloured head and light carbonation; malty aroma with some grass from the hops; thin and sweet in the mouth with a malty body and some brown sugar; then a little spice in the finish. More like a brown ale than a Baltic porter in my opinion, and only a very tenuous link to Malta.

Pours dark amber white head A - dark fruits coffee grassy dark bready spice F - fairly thin and a bit largery with a bitter spicey finish seems quite light for a porter in colour and flavour, not really for me this one.
